Sunset at Ogunquit Beach
As a proud adventurer from Upstate New York, I’ve explored my fair share of Maine’s coastal gems, but let me tell you, Ogunquit is the beach I can’t stop coming back to. This charming little seaside town is the perfect mix of jaw-dropping views, delicious eats, and activities that will have you saying, "Why didn’t I come here sooner?!" Whether it’s your first time or your fifth, here’s how I’d spend the ultimate weekend in Ogunquit—full of hidden gems and unforgettable moments.

Where to Stay: Choose your adventure! Anchorage By The Sea: Smack-dab in the heart of Ogunquit with Adirondack chairs perfectly positioned for dreamy ocean views. Bonus: Direct access to the Marginal Way. Cliff House Maine: Luxury vibes, infinity pools, and cliffside sunsets that feel straight out of a postcard. The Beaches Guest Rooms & Cottages: Cozy, pet-friendly, and budget-approved—just a short drive north of town. VRBO Rentals: Early birds get the best beachside cottages, so plan ahead!
Dinner with a View: Kick things off at Ogunquit Beach Lobster House. Think rooftop views of the river and town paired with seafood so good, you’ll be dreaming about it.
Sunset Stroll: Take a leisurely wander along the Marginal Way, a mile-long coastal path with jaw-dropping rocky coastline views. Bonus: Spot some of the most stunning beach mansions—serious house goals.

Morning Magic: Grab a coffee and buttery croissant at Mornings in Paris. Pro tip: Get there early before the line wraps around the block! Then, head to Ogunquit Beach at low tide. It’s a wide, sandy paradise that stretches to Moody Beach—perfect for a peaceful morning walk.
Mid-Morning Adventure: Walk the Marginal Way to Perkins Cove, a tiny, postcard-perfect fishing village. Poke around the quaint shops and grab a buttery lobster roll at Footbridge Lobster. Don’t miss snapping a pic on the iconic footbridge—it’s a vibe.
Lunch with Ocean Breezes: Grab an outdoor table at Oarweed Restaurant in Perkins Cove. Fresh seafood + salty air = chef’s kiss. Be sure to get the Seafood Chowder!
Afternoon Fun: It’s beach time! Pack your chairs, waterproof gear, and boogie board for some classic fun in the sun. Maine waves are always good for boogie boarding! Feeling adventurous? Take a short drive to Nubble Lighthouse in York. Snap pics, soak in the views, and grab a lobster roll at Fox’s Lobster House while you’re there. See a theme? Lobster rolls are good any time of day!
Dinner & a Show: Back in Ogunquit, snag a table at Rose Cove Ogunquit for some seriously delicious eats. Ready to party? Head upstairs to The Front Porch Piano Bar for sing-alongs, laughs, and late-night fun. Trust me, it’s a must-do! Most places close by 10pm -- it's THE place to be.
Morning Serenity:
Drive north to Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge. Think peaceful trails with Insta-worthy views of estuaries and salt marshes. It’s free, relaxing, and oh-so-Maine.
Mid-Morning Road Trip:
Pop over to Kennebunkport, a charming little town filled with adorable shops, harbor views, and great food. Don’t miss the Bush family compound viewpoint (it’s iconic).
Pro Parking Tip: Park for FREE at 30 North Street and enjoy a scenic stroll into town. Avoid high parking fees right in town.
Lunch options? Quick and tasty at The Clam Shack or a leisurely meal at The Boathouse Restaurant on the water.
Afternoon Options:
Feeling extra adventurous? Drive up to Portland for a mini day trip! Walk the cobblestone streets, explore the waterfront, and treat yourself to a brown butter lobster roll at Eventide Oyster Co. (You’re welcome.)
Prefer to stay local? Play a round of mini golf in Ogunquit or swing by Baskin River Fish Camp in Wells for a fun early dinner with major Instagram vibes.
Evening Wind-Down:
End your weekend around the firepit at BeachFire Bar & Grille just north of Ogunquit. Grab a drink, share your favorite memories, and soak in the Maine magic one last time.
Parking Hacks: In Ogunquit, (expensive) paid parking is everywhere, but Ontio Way has about 10 FREE spots just a mile from downtown. Snag one if you can!
Getting Around: A car is essential here. Period. Ubers exist but are hit or miss.
Plan Like a Pro: Dining reservations are your best friend, especially in summer.
Unique Adventure: Float from Ogunquit to Moody Beach on a lazy river ride! Bring a floatie, check the tide schedule, and prepare for a one-of-a-kind experience. Psst: This is my favorite waterproof phone case.
With this itinerary, you’ll experience Ogunquit like a pro. From stunning ocean views and fresh seafood to charming shops and hidden gems, this little slice of Maine will have you hooked. Ready to pack your bags? Trust me, Ogunquit is calling your name!
